REALIZED INTENSIVE TRAINING COURSE – AGRI-ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS 

Members of the project team implemented ITC in the period from November 19 to November 29, 2024.The ITC is divided into three segments, with the following topics: 

  1. Introduction to agri-environmental economics (F2F in focus). 
  1. Organic agriculture. 
  1. Problems of use of chemical inputs in agriculture. 

The “Introduction to agri-environmental economics (F2F in focus)” was held November 19, 2024, during which Žana Jurjević held the first part of the course. The goals of this ITC segment are understanding agri-environmental economics within the F2F strategy, that is, identifying economic and political challenges in the transition to sustainable food systems, understanding the objectives of the EU F2F strategy, such as reducing pesticides and increasing organic farming. 

The “Organic agriculture” was held November 26, 2024. Bojan Matkovski was a lecturer, and this ITC segment was held in cooperation with assistant professor Dr. Mirela Tomaš Simin from the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad. Students had the opportunity to learn about market opportunities and consumer trends in organic production (Bojan Matkovski), as well as the basic principles, standards and certification of organic production and understanding the ecological advantages of organic production (Mirela Tomaš Simin). 

The “Problems of use of chemical inputs in agriculture” segment of ITC was held on November 29, 2024, by Danilo Đokić. Students had the opportunity to meet and learn about the critical problems associated with chemical inputs in agriculture; to perceive the environmental and health impacts of pesticides and fertilizers, and to learn about alternatives and regulatory frameworks and risk reduction initiatives.
